And Overview Of The Femme Osage Haus Bed & Breakfast

Nestled in the beautiful and historic Femme Osage Valley, the Femme Osage Haus is a typical farmhouse built more than 100 years ago, around 1880.

Most of the house stands now as it was first built. Originally the home of a 95-year-old German widow of the town blacksmith, for almost 75 years, from around 1915 until 1990.

In fact a wagon wheel, now in the yard was purchased at an auction that once belonged to her husband's blacksmith shop.

A screened-in arbor was added on the foundation of the old chicken brooder house and decking and a hot tub were added for the enjoyment of my B & B guests.

All guests arrive through an inviting open and light Sun Room where breakfast is served and friendships made and views are enjoyed.

Guests can always enjoy the sun room even in winter months due to the warmth of its wood burning stove.

Our guest quarters are located on the second floor of this wonderfully restored farmhouse.

In addition to the guest rooms there is a "common room" that still has the original wood floor and barn wood walls and hand-hewn uprights along to walls that add to the ambiance of the room. The old window casing and antique exposed counterweights even remain to add ambiance.

You'll also find board games, cards interesting old chess set and even hard back books for your relaxation. There is also an antique buffet which serves as a wet bar with a coffee pot, microwave and a stock refrigerator for the guests to use as well.

Guests staying in our "Blue Room" will enjoy the lovely antique furniture including a beautiful full-size inlaid oak wood bed and wardrobe. An oak secretary with bookshelves beckon guests to relax in comfort and an antique night stand and pottery chair round out the furnishings along with even more stocked bookshelves for browsing.
